“amy’s one of the most talented people i've had the fortune to work with. her ability to see and capture the essence of her subjects is a truly unique gift! she's able to make even the most reserved subjects comfortable and open in a matter of minutes. i would work with amy every day if the opportunity presented itself. she is the best portrait photographer i've worked with. her skills and talent are highly impressive!

“it's been so hard to describe what navigator meant for me... it can be really hard to make friends after 30, but friendship is exactly what i found in the navigator retreat. a safe space filled with beautiful humans, engaged in self discovery and growth, lovingly facilitated by an incredibly compassionate and centered human being. amy created spaces that were not just welcoming, but nurturing for the mind, body and spirit.

something about the navigator retreat spoke to my inner child and allowed her to progress in the healing journey that is my life’s work.”

“i attended a writing workshop amy led. my testimony is if you want your heart and soul carefully tended to, if you want to feel safe doing your work at your pace, if you want to feel seen and heard, then amy is your person.

she’s wise, gentle, kind of stardust-y, you know, just all around good to do business with.”

“amy amy amy. the ability to visualize and execute, coupled with enough confidence not only professionally, but also to ease nerves while making people bloom in front of the camera is not something you find everyday; and you have it my dear. you are lovely and light.”

amy’s a talented and versatile photographer. i’ve hired amy for family photos, for cover shoots of my magazine, for personal headshots and for a big project to capture headshots for everyone at my company -- many of whom did not care to have their photo taken! over the course of many days, amy chatted and cajoled and charmed every single one of them. her "bedside manner" is top notch. and the final photographs are stunning. she has some way of capturing that something-something that makes everyone stand out as an individual. i highly recommend amy for commercial, editorial, personal projects. she is a professional and an artist.

“amy’s ability to create confidence in me not only to take my picture but to share my story as she took images was touching to my heart, for it captured moments and feelings i recollect clearly as I go back to the images. she captured my true self like no other. there's something so beautifully unique about amy's ability to capture moments with ease. it's her essence to make people feel comfortable in their skin around her- a true gem. i’m so grateful for her work. she’s a beautiful soul- an artist with heart in her work.”

“if you’re looking for professional photos that really represent you, i want to tell you what amy did for me.

i was in desperate need for a headshot for an upcoming public event. there was very little notice.

i was tired of the standard “corporate webpage headshot that rarely seemed to represent me. i wanted photos that had personality and paid subtle respect to the music subculture and community that raised me.

i’m glad to have found amy. she’s phenomenal and really listened to what i was looking for. she didn’t default back to the “norm.”

she worked with me to understand what would and wouldn’t work on a technical level. she offered several suggestions that helped land images that were professional and true to who i am.

i also have a visual disability and i can feel self-conscious when i take photos. most photographers either ignore it or try to hide it. amy didn’t do either. she worked with me to bring my whole self into my photos and i’m ever grateful.

it was an empowering experience and i still use my photos two years later. a kind artist who knows how to deliver is rare. i lucked out and if you choose to work with amy, i know you will too.

amy is the best! it was easy to schedule my session and she made me feel so comfortable. most importantly, she’s got a great eye. she expertly watched the light, helped me pose, and made sure my pictures turned out amazing. i got exactly what i wanted and really enjoyed the process.

“amy saw my vision from jump, she was excited and open to work with me so i felt comfortable and beautiful and got grad pictures that felt like ME. the experience was amazing and we shared great memories together. i'm so grateful to have pictures i will truly treasure forever.”

to be seen. i think that this is something that people crave; to be seen as we truly are. with this comes a willingness to be vulnerable with the person whom you are with. i have found to be vulnerable with amy mcmullen comes with incredible ease. her desire is to capture you and she is able to do that with creativity and passion. i have used her services as a photographer for my business but the one session that means the most to me are the senior photos she took of my oldest child. as a transgender person my oldest was discovering themselves and amy saw that and the photos she took of my baby are some of the most dear photos that i have of my baby. i will be forever grateful to amy for those photos. so i encourage you, choose vulnerability and entrust yourself to amy, and allow yourself to be seen.

“amy is magic. she’s captured all the most important things in my life from my kids when they were little to my recent wedding; she is not only an incredible artist with an impeccable eye, her superpower is connecting with her subjects. when she photographs you, you feel completely comfortable to be who you are. she’s able to capture the essence of the people she shoots; very few photographers have the ability to see their subjects so clearly. if you are lucky enough to be photographed by her, you’ll have amazing heirloom images to look back on throughout time. to anyone who is looking for connected, soulful photography, i cannot recommend amy enough.”

-shelby brakken

damnit, amy. i'm sitting here weeping like i don't get to spend every day with these kids. you've captured them _____(insert dramatic word of choice that i cannot come up with at the moment because nothing feels as encompassing or as grand as i want it to). i have no idea how you did this! and i’ve been trying to capture the essence of them via tiny lenses their whole lives. i'm baffled and simultaneously so grateful for your art and your skill..i can’t believe how you managed to capture the microexpressions and beauty that i see every damn day, but can never summarize with words.

you are a true artist and when you are armed with your camera, you are a truth-teller. i have never seen my kids captured in a purer sense. i will treasure these images for the rest of my life. what a gift.  - rae ann
