the light in you is all I see

oh hi, i'm amy mcmullen,

woman greeting you with a sunset behind

 a picture maker and

story-shaker

i help people tell their truest stories

and rewrite the ones that hinder them.

your story matters

as a photographer and facilitator, my work in the world is storywork.

i believe knowing each other’s stories is how we make sense of our surroundings and each other,  and in a world that would have us think differently, we can always find pieces of ourselves in a stranger- something that connects us, lest we forget we are knitted together.

your story matters to me, and telling any part of it, or sometimes, helping you tell a better one, is one joy of a job.

as a photographer i aim to see a little closer into who you are or what you share as we shoot; i come with curiosity, a dorky streak, and a tenacious desire to reflect back to you how dope you are. to tell your story with both reverence and joy, and for you to leave our sessions filled up and feelin’ yourself.

as a facilitator, i lead co-working groups, occasional workshops and soon again, 3-day retreats for folks looking to un-learn nonsense narratives we’ve bought into too long, and reflect back and remind you of your more essential self.  using meditation, writing exercises and archery, we RE-story, thank you very much.   we don't have to believe what we’re told about ourselves.

however we work together, i’m the luckiest, to be your mirror.

The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love — whether we call it friendship or family or romance — is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light.
Gentle work. Steadfast work. Life-saving work in those moments when life and shame and sorrow occlude our own light from our view, but there is still a clear-eyed loving person to beam it back.
In our best moments, we are that person for another.
